Welcome

Not near the centre of Rome.
Inside it.

Most visitors to Rome spend an hour a day getting to the places they came for. Our guests walk out of the door and are already there. The Pantheon is a seven-minute stroll, Campo de' Fiori five, Castel Sant'Angelo eight — and Rome's most photographed square is at the end of the lane.

Both apartments occupy a seventeenth-century building dating from 1650, on cobbled streets that empty out after dinner. You get the whole apartment to yourself: a real kitchen, two separate bedrooms, air conditioning in every room, fast Wi-Fi, and an owner who answers the phone. No reception desk, no queue, no upselling.

We look after just two apartments, and we look after them ourselves. That is the whole idea.

Ristorante 433 and Al Braciere are on the same block, and Da Francesco — traditional Roman cooking, open from breakfast to late — is around the corner. Good to know

Practical questions

What time can we check in and out?

Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 10:30. Both apartments have self check-in: once your online check-in is complete you receive the access instructions, so you can arrive at any time from 15:00. If your flight lands awkwardly, ask — we can usually keep your luggage before check-in or after check-out.

How many people can stay?

Each apartment sleeps four in two separate bedrooms. Rubens Lodge has two double beds; Bernini Lodge has one large double and two singles. Cots for children under two are free on request. There are no extra beds beyond the ones listed.

Is there parking?

No — and you will not want a car. The whole area is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL) with almost no parking, and everything worth seeing is within walking distance. Taxis can drop you at the door, and we will send precise arrival instructions after booking.

Is the apartment air-conditioned?

Yes, in every room, with heating in winter. Guests staying in August routinely mention that the air conditioning made the difference.

Can we bring a pet? Can we smoke?

Neither, unfortunately. Both apartments are non-smoking and pets are not allowed.

What is included?

Bed linen and towels, free Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning and heating. Bernini Lodge also has a washing machine. Rome's tourist tax is collected separately, as required by the city.

Is there a restaurant in the building?

No — these are self-catering apartments with their own kitchens. What you get instead is one of Rome's best-fed streets: Hostaria da Baffetto is 30 metres away, and Ristorante 433, Al Braciere and Da Francesco are all within a minute's walk.
